To check what people think and expect from Social Media, I asked this question in a popular Online Marketing Group with 70000+ members, managed by me.
The responders are from various geographies worldwide and from varied interests and occupations, some being social media experts, business owners too.
Posting the responses as is below (without the identities)
Social media is used for ease of our customer where we can directly relate to our customers and yes other thing is of our sales also
Social media is usefull to learn about our customers ang generate a trully relantionship
In reference to clients, i would say I want to make social media a joyful place where people interact on my posts. In single line i would say,”Making my social media campaign work to that extent, where my clients would never need any PPC campaign to advertise thier business.”
Social Media has changed the definition of marketing. I want to generate leads and want to help people with social services as well.
Truly connect with my audience, understand and talk to them
To connect with your customers and give your business a human face.
Give and receive advice and information by connecting with customers and professionals.
Brand awareness, warmth, traffic, sharing, links, conversion, customer service, positive reviews.
Conversation…I want people to feel comfortable asking questions and be willing to listen to the answers. I want engagement and a place where folks can connect with other customers.
Brand awareness and Customer Nurturing. Provide them useful information that they can share with their colleagues and friends in an effort to keep the brand in their minds so that when the time comes for purchase, we are #1 in their list.
In relation to e-commerce, and to be honest… An increased conversion rate.
While I love the connection I’ve developed with my customers I need a strong conversion rate. How can we make that happen?
If u’r referring to SMO then most definitely reach the most groups on Facebook,Google plus & as much followers on twitter & subscribers on youtube, unlike google adwords Facebook funded campaigns have more values so its a must using them as well.
To connect with talented and motivated folks who are broke and miserable and don’t know why.
ROI
To get new readers/customers and to stay in people’s minds. I manage multiple Facebook pages for various customers, so the purpose depends on the client.
Some of my clients are businesses that sell big ticket items that don’t expect to be selling to the same customers very often, so their goal is to stay visible for the next time their current customers need an upgrade, and to find new customers.
Another client of mine wants a sense of community on their page, setting them up as an expert in their field.
My company is new right now so through social media my objective is to create brand awareness and also get some honest feedback so that we can work and improve our service.
Through Social Media I get more updated info at a single place with more attention. On the others hand Social Media gives better identity and promotions to the Brands.
That one thing? Well since you limited it to one thing only I would have to say…
Massive and multi-pronged propagation of effective marketing media.
Pretty clear from most of the responses, most of the concerned marketing people and business owners do want a consistent engagement with the user and create a ‘converting’ audience after some point.
